For the entry project of my Master Degree I explored the notion of meta levels from the book 'Gödel, Escher, Bach: An eternal golden braid'. I developed an algorithm which first reads a user input as sequence, uses that sequence as instructions for a graphical composition, meanwhile uses the same sequence for instructions to evolve the composition to the next generation. It showcases similar behavior to how a genotype evolves to a phenotype, triggering a process that is completely self-referential.
